MHRA Notification Is Not a Risk-Free Badge for UK Vape Products

• Updated 1 min read

Policy A product appearing in a notification system should not be confused with a broad safety endorsement.

What notification means

MHRA’s public FAQ explains that publication of a submission demonstrates compliance with notification requirements, while other legal requirements may still matter. That distinction is important for readers who treat “listed” as “fully approved.”

Notification is a market-access signal. It is not a complete product-quality report.

What buyers and retailers should still ask

A UK product conversation should still ask whether packaging, labeling, nicotine content, tank or container size, advertising, and safety expectations are met. Retailers should also preserve supplier documents and product identifiers.

For consumers, the practical takeaway is to check product identity and avoid assuming that a familiar name means every variant is equally documented.

VapeRisk standard

When VapeRisk covers UK products, we will explain notification status separately from hands-on review, lab testing, and product-risk interpretation.
